Question: hello doctors, I have an query regarding pain in my hand and foot palms. since few months I am having pain in both. some times it's perfectly fine but some time it's too much, like I can't hold tight anything with hand. my job is on laptop for minimum 10 and maximum up to 16 hrs. I need your suggestions on it, what could be the reason and what should I do in this situation.

Hi,

As I understand you have intermittent painful symptoms on the palm and sole happening for a few months. You also seem to have difficulty holding your hands, especially during pain.

I would like to know if you experience
1. Tingling and numbness?
2. Joint pains
3. Headache/body pains / on and off fever
4. Do you have any known medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid abnormalities?

The symptoms can be caused by a range of conditions including neuropathy; fatiguability; infection; somatism and so on. It will be difficult to narrow down the cause without relevant clinical examination and investigation. I will insist you visit a physician / neurologist for a detailed physical and neurological examination. Further tests including blood count, vitamin D, Vitamin B12, blood sugar, thyroid hormones, serum calcium, magnesium, and so on can be ordered.
