Possible diagnosis: Genital warts
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Ask a Doctor Service.
Thank you for trusting us with your health question.
I have gone through your query and the attached picture in detail.
From the appearance of the lesions as seen in the attached picture, the most likely cause is Genital warts. Genital warts are caused by Human papillomavirus infection, which is sexually transmitted.
The virus can remain dormant for many months-years before causing apparent symptoms. In your particular case, the injury to skin surface caused by shaving must have resulted in the entry of the virus deeper into the skin and appearance of warts.
Genital warts are benign and do not cause any other health risks.
Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider to confirm the diagnosis. Usually, physical examination alone can confirm genital warts. Your doctor may also recommend a biopsy of the lesions if needed.
Meanwhile,
Keep the area clean and dry.
Apply moisturizing lotion containing aloe if burning/irritation is present.
Use condom while engaging in intercourse to prevent the spread of the infection.
Wash your hands properly after touching the affected area, to prevent the spread of infection to other parts of the body.
Avoid shaving the genital area as micro cuts from shaving can further spread the infection. You may use hair removal creams/trimmer instead.
Topical creams (like Podofilox, Imiquimod 5%) can be applied to remove warts. These creams are available only with a prescription, which your doctor can provide after confirmation of diagnosis.
If HPV infection is confirmed, it is also best to get your partner tested also.
When topical treatments do not work, other options like cryotherapy, surgical removal can be considered.
Hope I was able to help you.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
