Question: Brief Answer:
Benign longitudinal melanonychia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and viewed the image.

It is well defined, thin band of even thickness and uniform color with no history of change in morphology. It is a benign longitudinal melanonychia, most commonly due to overactive melanocytes in the nail matrix or nail bed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

hello im a 31 yr old white female. i have a brown line on my right dominate thumb. ive had it for 3 years or more. just wondering if this could be subungal melanoma or begnin melanoncchyia. im not sure if has change in the last three years maybe once i got pregnant 7 months ago it could have got a tad darker but everyone else thinks it has not. its less than 1mm. no history of melanoma in the family.
