Brief Answer:
Evaluation of liver kidney and heart required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing 'Ask A Doctor' service for your query,
I have gone through your details.

Usually, three organs are involved in the case of edema

1) Liver-liver and spleen are related to each other. One of the classic signs is that edema usually starts from the leg and ankle area and if remain untreated covers a complete body.

The other two organs are Kidney (if you are a diabetic get it checked) and Heart (if you have any issue related to shortness of breath or chest pain off and on called angina) go for a complete heart check-up.

As of now, I would focus initially on the liver.
Get a liver ultrasound done along with liver function tests to see if liver is all fine or not.
Sometimes a vein called portal vein which connects spleen to the liver has a problem that causes edema.

The rate of increase of your edema is suggestive of something more than just normal etiology.
Kindly get the liver tests done as suggested above.

Along with it press the site of edema for 5 seconds with your thumb if a temporary pit is formed again things are related to the above three organs.
However, if it's non-pitting in nature a thyroid function tests need to be done.

Please discuss these with your doctor and revert back.
Hope I was helpful
Thank you.
