Question: hi, I have a hernia on my groin (about the size of a tennis ball) my doctor has moved and I can't see another doctor for over a week. Am I in any trouble waiting that long? I've had a CAT scan ordered by a local surgeon (who I don't like) to confirm the hernia about a month ago however I have yet to hear from him. I am not in a great deal of pain but I would like to know if I am ok in waiting.

Brief Answer:
You can wait a week or more.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

If the hernia is reponible which means it can go in and out freely without getting stuck out and if you don't feel pain or discomfort you can wait a week or more.
If the hernia suddenly can't move freely in and out, gets stuck outside and the opening is narrowed causing pain you may need immediately intervention.

Hope I have answered the question.
