Question: hi , I wanted to get an opinion about my 14. year old son's eye redness. It started 6 days ago, due to lockdown there was no meeting people outside household, though he had worn his contact lenses recently, He is still learning proper technique of wearing contacts. Six days ago, the white of his eyes were red and inflamed, after 6 days of ciprofloxacin drops (2 drops, every 2 hours for 2 days, 2 drops every 4 hours for next 4 days) the redness has reduced but I still see a deep line in his eye, I have attached photos, pl look at it and let me know what next steps should be. None of the other family members developed eye redness.a

Brief Answer:
That looks like an inflamed blood vessel

Detailed Answer:
Hey, thanks for the question.

This looks like an inflamed blood vessel and could have been due to a reaction to his contact lens or could be an infection also.

The pictures show that it is improving. You can give him some anti-inflammatory eye drops like ketorolac / lotepred for five days but I think it will go on its own.

After that, you can bring him to a clinic to learn proper contact lens use as without good technique there can be a chance of repeat infection.

Regards
