Hi.
I am Dr S Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.

Normal blood values for a 75 gram OGTT used to check for type 2 diabetes in people who are not pregnant are as follows-
Fasting: 60 to 100 mg/dL (3.3 to 5.5 mmol/L)
1 hour: less than 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L)
2 hours: less than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L).

Considering these values I would recommend HbA1C levels as well.
I will agree that this readings are suggesting prediabetes.
Weight loss and diet control are the first steps of control.
If this doesn't help medication like Metformin would be needed.

Feel free to contact me if you want any information.
Best wishes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is good to hear from you again.
Those are some very interesting questions.
I will try to answer them all 1 by 1.

how long should i try diet for and re test before medication- at least a month on both, exercise and diet

should i do the HbA1c now after my glucose test- it tests average sugars over 3 months. So no, i wont be affected by OGTT.

can pre diabetes be prevented with diet alone and what kind of diet should i follow- frequently diet and exercise do help control sugars enough to help us delay the onset of initiation of medications. A DASH diet would help.

what can pre diabetes do to your body if you dont do anything about it- DIABETES AND PREDIABETES both gradually affect almost every system in the body- eyes, nerves, kidneys, heart etc.

can it cause vision problems- yes, as mentioned above it can.

a dry mouth- this is a symptom of raised sugars, and so can occur in all patients with raised sugars.

I hope this helps.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Yes, some of these problems are suggestive of diabetes related issues.
The thrush, the dry mouth are symptoms of diabetes.
Similarly pins and needles suggest a neuropathy secondary to diabetes.
And yes, in diabetic patients osteoarthritis is associated.
It indicates that your sugars have probably remained high for a long time.
A good control of sugars is the chief treatment for all of these.
I hope this helps explain your symptoms.
Best wishes,
Dr Mittal

Meet endocrinologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank you for your message.
It is never a problem in taking a second opinion.
Especially if you are in doubts about the first doctors diagnosis and treatment information.
However if you are planning to go for a second opinion, I would recommend meeting with an endocrinologist.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck.
