Hi Doctor, I’m A 31 Year Old Male Who Doesn’t
Question: hi doctor,
I’m a 31 year old male who doesn’t have any major organ diseases. My health history is :
IBS, Allergic Rhinitis, Anxiety, tension headaches.
Yesterday a low grade fever started with mild body aches without any other known symptoms,
No sore throat
No coughing
No sinusitis
No vomiting
No nausea
No Diahrea
Only low grade fever, mild body aches and fatigue. After taking paracetamol several times by body temperature had dropped from 38.1 to 37 Celsius
This morning I woke up with 37.2 Celsius no body aches so I had a Xpert Flu nasal swab to rule out influenza A/B & H1N1 and results came out to be negative.
Now I’m very confused what may be the cause of this low grade fever as my normal body temperature is 36.5 and now it hit back 37.7 after a sweat breakout while asleep.
Please guide me ? Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Please wait for up to one week
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor'
I can understand your concern and I am sorry for your situation.
According to the history of your symptoms and your comorbidities, I don't think this is a serious situation.
It seems like a common cold which usually lasts for 5 days with such a temperature.
I'd recommend you to continue painkillers for some days. If after approximately one week you will not feel good again then better to see your doctor and do a Hemogram and a CRP blood test to exclude a bacterial superimposing.
Wait and watch for your situation to change for good.
Hope to have been helpful

how could this be a common cold if a common cold is caused by a virus and influenza a/b
Brief Answer:
Continue discussion
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Please don't confuse the common cold with Influenza. They are different entities...
A common cold might be caused by many kinds of viruses such as rhinoviruses. The symptoms are mild and generalized and muscle pain and fatigue are the most encountered. Patients with comorbidities have not the classical picture of the signs and symptoms.
Meanwhile, influenza is not a common cold. It is a more severe and specific disease caused by Influenza viruses A or B or a combination, not others.
I explained that if this situation lasts more than one week then you should consult your doctor for probably further follow up.
Hope this is clear now.
Regards
