Brief Answer:
MRI scan needed for proper diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling of the hips that he has is likely to be due to an inflamed bursa. There can be a mild amount of fluid collection also that may need to be drained. He needs to get an MRI scan done for proper diagnosis. Stopping the drugs will help but the inflammation may take 2-3 weeks of proper treatment to subside completely. He needs a direct examination by an orthopedician and a few investigations before starting with the specific treatment.
I hope this answers your query.
