Question: hi doctor, i have a small boil on my scalp. I've attached the images with this query. It has been like there for the last two years or so. I neglected it as it's small and I thought it will go with out any medical attention. But its not getting cured. It does not generate pus. But i can't keep the dead skin around it, I take away the dead skin around it when ever I touch it. I know its not good to disturb it, but I can't restrain from doing it. It pains (very little) for couple of days after doing that. Some times it generates some liquid (very little, just my finger gets wet, may its blood). I do head bath every three days or so. Please suggest we here. Shall I consult a dermatologist.

Brief Answer:
Dermatologist- treatment, SOS excision

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thanks for your query and pictures.

This is most probably a small granuloma which has been kept alive by your pricking habit. It never got a chance to heal due to chronic irritation of pricking.

You may please consult a Dematologist or a General Surgeon. If this is dressed daily with Povidone Iodine ointment and not pricked and if you take a proper antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines for 7 days , it may show signs of healing.
Get this done for about a week. If there are no signs of healing a small surgery can be performed to get this excised under local anesthesia and get the tissue diagnosis by histo-pathology.

This will help in getting rid of the problem for ever and you get tissue diagnosis .
