Question: hi doctor,

i'm 27 years old and pretty healthy. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, I excersize regularly, I don't smoke, I used to drink alcohol a lot but I limited my drinking. I don't really have a very concerning medical history. The only times I went to get treatment from doctors was one time for my psoriasis and one time for my phimosis. Other than those 2 medical conditions, I have nothing else that is diagnosed.

6 months ago when I went in to get a cream to treat my phimosis I noticed that a few days later I woke up with no morning erection which was strange since up until that point I always woke up with a morning erection. I didn't pay too much mind to it because I thought maybe it was a side effect from the steroid cream I was using for my phimosis. The next day I woke up with a weaker than average erection. The following day I woke up and I felt my penis felt like it couldn't move. Like i couldn't nudge it or anything. After that day, I have been having very inconsistent erections. Sometimes they are somewhat hard, other times not hard enough. This happens when I am masturbating as well has having intercourse. Also, I only get morning erections about 3 times a week. Also, my erections aren't lasting as long anymore. I have to really use my hands a lot now in order to sustain it or else it just goes away fast.

Why are all of these stuff happening? I have no idea what this could be caused by but all the doctors I've seen are saying it is due to anxiety which I don't really understand how. The only testing that was done was to check my testosterone level and it came back to be 425. I asked for further testing and my doctor told me to take a viagra and if I see that i can get an erection with a viagra that means that nothing is wrong physically and I told him I do not want to take medication. Plus, I don't see how getting an erection WITH viagra proves that I can get an erection naturally so I found that to be a very stupid thing for him to say.

After talking to urologists they said this question is better suited for a sexologist. So....here I am.

Brief Answer:
It can be treated with phosphodiesterase inhibitors.

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir,
Welcome to ask a doctor service,

I have gone through your query in detail and can certainly understand your concern towards your erection problem.

Yes it could be due to anxiety, that erection problem may occur as psychological health is very important for proper erection.

But, nothing to worry, it can be easily treated with phosphodiesterase inhibitors like tadalafil which helps in the production of nitric oxide which is required for sustaining proper erection.

Hope this information would help you.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It can be tested through NPT.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back,

It can be known whether it is physical or psychological by early morning erection.

The drug I mentioned is not a psychiatric drug as such but it helps in improving your erection.

It doesn't have much side effects of you take adequate dose as per doctors advise.

So, please discuss with your doctor and take prescription based medicine.

It can be supplemented with anti-anxiety drugs for further response.

Thank you.

is that a drug for mental illness or something?
what are the side effects of that?
and also...how certain are you that this is due to psychological reasons and not a physical reason?

is the early morning erection test necessary if I do get early morning erections but not as often?
I mentioned in my original post that I still get morning erections but just not as often as I did before.
Am i supposed to get them every single morning? every night while i am sleeping?

if this is a psychological issue can you please let me know what to do to resolve this psychological issue so that I get good erections again?

also....I had stated earlier I do not what to take any erectile drugs with any dosage...my questions is how I can treat this naturally. If this is a psychological problem according to the 100 million brilliant doctors I asked then shouldn't this be naturally reversible and drugs would not be necessary?

Brief Answer:
Yes, early morning test is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back,

I have gone through your follow up query and can certainly understand your concern regarding early morning erection test.

Yes , it is very much important that we call it as nocturnal penile tumescence ( NPT) , to rule out the organic problem if any.

If this test came positive, there is no organic problem...so it could be psychological reason affecting your erection.

If not vice versa .

So, depending on the cause it can be treated with either anti anxiety drugs or phosphodiesterase inhibitors .

Hope this information would help you.
Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome back,

It is enough that means you have Normal erections.

So , nothing to worry, you can consider it as psychological problem...and needs to be treated with anti anxiety drugs .

So , please discuss with your doctor and get prescription based medicine.

If you are still doubtful, you can get scrotal Doppler done .

Please reply if you have any concerns further.

Hope this information would help you.
