Brief Answer:
Dues by meals trigger palpitations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

It is quite common for some people to have palpitations and feeling of a pounding heart after meals......specially after heavy, fatty and high carb meals.
Some people also get it after eating high salt foods and junk foods containing a lot of monosodium glutamate (MSG).

Kindly share if you have any co morbidity like hypertension, diabetes or thyroid dysfunction.
Do you smoke, take caffeine and alcohol and what are your dietary habits?
These details would help me to evaluate your cardiac status.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.

Hi DR XXXXXXX

Thank you for your response.

I don’t have any Hepertension or diabetes, but I have been having some issues with my thyroid as I recently had some blood test and my doctor said my level was 17 near the overactive range , he didn’t put me in on medication he wants to retest my thyroid Tsh in 6 months and go from there , i can also confirm I don’t smoke , I drink alcohol very occasionally just like when I have a coffee in a morning.

Look for to your response.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Heavy meals do trigger palpitations

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Thanks for sharing.

I would advise you to restrict your salt intake and avoid fatty and heavy foods.
De stress yourself,do meditation and don't be sleep deprived.

If the symptoms do not improve, please do visit your clinician for complete evaluation and clinical examination.
He would go for your repeat thyroid profile and tests like ECG,Echo,Serum electrolytes and holter monitoring etc.
The treatment would be according to the primary condition identified.

Happy living.
Regards.
