Brief Answer:
Could have been a vasculitis rash

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Perhaps you had vasculitis rash as you said it stung and you had burning rather than itching. There can be some skin sensitivity post a vasculitis rash or it could be a sign of an impending crop of rash. I suggest you to take an oral anti inflammatory e.g Ibuprofen. Take rest. Don't do any strenuous walking and avoid keeping your legs in a dependent position for too long. This increased sensitivity should go away on its own barring a new eruption.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Hi. To be clear... the rashes were very mildly discolored... and the size of the palm of my hand... and not raised.

What made it weird was that it was on both sides of my legs!

Also, I have been under the most significant stress of my life the past month... and have had some weird symptoms all over my body since the stress began... is it possible it was dermatitis or stress related??

Brief Answer:
Vasculitis or Capillaritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Itching is the primary symptom in dermatitis so I didn't keep it as first possibility. Stress and anxiety lower threshold of cutaneous sensations emanating from the skin rather than inciting them. Most likely it was either vasculitis or capillaritis which is usually bilateral, self resolving and associated with burning and stinging.
Take care.
