Question: hi. i spent the last 6 weeks with various infections- sinus, ear and very bad cold and cough. i am feeling better now and took antibitics however, i still have an annoying cough and when i wake up in the morning when i cough yellow or clear mucous comes up. my doctor said at this point its allergies. all blood work was normal, chest xray from 3 weeks ago normal too. is this ok to have mucous in the morning? should i try allergy medicine?

According to the history you provide yes it might be that after an airway infection the cough lasts for up to one month .It might be with sputum or not however the Mo's important think is that the general conditions of the patient are good which means no fever no malaise no chest pain no breathlessness.You are in healing process actually and in my opinion wait until one month for the cough to dissappears.

If not than you can do the allergy blood tests such as Total IgE Pneumoalergens and prick tests . After having the results than it will be other treatment regarding or not.

thank you. i have been short of breath but went to a pulomonolgist and he did a bunch of breathing tests and checking blood, Oxegen levels and all was normal. ive seen him 3x. he said its anxiety.
