Question: hi, im 83 years old, a male. and I have developed a painful crack on my outside left heel. what can I do?

Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Please post clear and focused photos as these help for on-the-spot diagnosis.
Is there any medical problem like diabetes or so?
Since when is the crack present?
Any bleeding or infection?

From the available information I would advise you the following:
Please clean the whole foot and leg with Liquid Povidone Iodine (Betadine) twice a day. This will help to make the area sterile and avoidance of secondary infection.
Cover the crack with Ointment Betadine and dress with sterile gauze.
Take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
If the infection is preset then you may need an oral antibiotic.
Take Multivitamins, mineral and trace elements as these do help in early and better healing.
