Question: hi. ive had a headache for the past 3 and a half weeks. it was certainly due to a very stressful period. The pain radiates but is mostly located on the top of my head and near my eyes. my neck hurts as well. i also am very sensitive to light and am seeing after images at times after lookimg ar an object or trails. i suffered a concussion 3 years ago but dont think its related. my neurologist said its probably a migraine or tension related and due to the stress i was under 3 weeks ago. the opthamologist said i have dry eyes as well so that could be contributing to tje visual issues. if my head doesng have pain- it feels tight and sore. i asked for an MRI bc im worried but my neurologist didnt think it was necdesary as i had one 2 years ago and it was normal. any suggestins ?

Brief Answer:
Rule out occipital neuralgia...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, you have headache with increased sensitivity to light and due to stressful period, so I think it may be due to migraine.

As you had already consulted with neurologist, still as you have neck pain, I would suggest you to do MRI neck to rule out occipital neuralgia after Neurophysician opinion.

Along with that avoid stress/loud sound /bright light. Take proper sleep. Take balanced diet and avoid hot and spicy foods.

Hope I have answered your query...

Thank you. So after images and light sensitivity can all be due to migraine or tension correct? Also do you think the dry eyes makes it worse ?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As per your history, it may be due to migraine. Still it would be better to rule out Occipital neuralgia after neurophysician consultation.

Dry eyes may cause increased sensitivity to light which may aggravate migraine.

For that you can use artificial tear drops available over the counter.
