Hello!
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service!
I passed through your concern carefully and would like to explain that a single umbilical artery may be associated with chromosomal abnormalities or organ malformations in up to 50% of cases. Anyways, it seems from the already performed ultrasound report that cardiac, cerebral and renal structures result normal.
It is advisable to repeat the morphological ultrasound after two to three weeks to be sure that all the parameters remain within normal values.
An important issue to be clarified is to exclude possible chromosomal abnormalities, most frequent in this condition would be trisomy 18.
So, if possible besides the ultrasound, the above mentioned genetic test (for trisomy 18) is advisable.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Genetic testing is highly accurate.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
You are right! Ultrasound test would show with a good accuracy cerebral, heart or kidney defects. Morphological echo helps in detecting any such problems.
A single artery may show an increased probability of chromosomal abnormalities, but it is not equivalent to the disease presence.
As echo has resulted normal, you shouldn't worry about these issues.
In addition, NIPT has excellent accuracy in selecting chromosomal defects; so it would clarify your doubts and will definitely confirm that everything is OK.
Hope to have clarified your issues of concern!
Wishing you a pleasant weekend!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
