fyi, its now 9:10 pm my time and I am sober as a judge. At least I feel, speak and walk that way. I won%E2%80%99t blame you for chastising me either. I realize drinking more often is not a good thing and I intend to change that behavior.

Brief Answer:
Should be ok to take Xanax
Detailed Answer:
Hello, good to hear from you again.
You do need to be careful with alcohol and Xanax, but fortunately, in your case, you are being very careful, so I don't think you will have any problems. In this case, the effect of the alcohol would be expected to wear off by 9 pm, so I would say 10 or 11 pm would be safe to take the Xanax.
No need to chastise you but if you limited your alcohol intake to 1-2 drinks a day, and only rarely more than that, it would be better for your health.
Just so I know, do you take anything other than Xanax for sleep?
What dose of Xanax do you use?
Do you only use it at night?
Awaiting...

I take sotalol 80 mgs at night. I had one single afib event six years ago but never again. And amlodipine 2.5 mgs just reduced to once a day from twice a day because I lost 40 pounds and my bp was getting too low. as in 95 over 70. Now back to 110 over 78

the main thing with the xanax is when I dont take it I get really anxious and antsy. I been taking it so long now I dont really notice how it makes me feel as much as I notice how I feel if I dont take it.

Brief Answer:
Good to know
Detailed Answer:
Ok, that is good for me to know. That is a reasonable dose and shouldn't cause any problems, except for the dependence on it that you mention. That is a major reason I don't like prescribing this kind of medication, because over time you just get used to it, and it loses its effect, but now you have to take it or it is very uncomfortable. If you are able to lower the dose gradually yourself, I would try to do that if I were you. But for now you should be fine with 2 mg once at bedtime.
Thanks for your question, please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help any way I can.
