Brief Answer:
sebaceous cyst or lipoma most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.

* As per my clinical experience, the sudden knot on the back of head may be
related to soft tissue lesion as sebaceous cyst, developing lipoma or
others.

Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Duration of the knot with progress since onset.
2. Size, shape, consistency of the knot, discharge of any material from knot,
if any ?
3. Any pain underlying ?
4. Similar knots over any other parts of the body ?
5. If visible on surface and no objection, a Photograph showing the knot as
an attachement during follow up discussion will be proving much
informative.

Awaiting for your response.
Take care.
