Brief Answer:
I would recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg veins.

Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that feeling pain may be normal during the healing process.

Anyway, you should know that sometimes some small veins may persist after this procedure, and they may lead to pain and swelling in the leg, because of the persistence of blood flow in them.

In such case a less invasive procedure (sclerotherapy) may be needed.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to examine the veins and exclude this possible complication.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Yes, regular physical activity and sports are recommendable during recovery.

The pain is supposed to decrease with time as healing is complete.

But, if there is persistent pain and swelling in the leg, it may be necessary to perform a Doppler ultrasound in order to exclude the presence of persistent blood flow in some small veins which may need sclerotherapy later.
