Question: i had a small boil on the roof of my mouth 8-9 months ago. the boil healed and is okay. but there is still a small pink bump on the roof of my mouth is painless and has shrunk a little after all these months. I did not use any medication. just salt water gargles. is there some medicine that i can use to heal this scar tissue of sorts from the unhealed boil?

Brief Answer:
You need to do intralesional corticosteroid injection as first line therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question XXXXXXX Hope I can be of help for you today.

Through reading your query I would like to help you with this question. Scar with pink bump and painless and has shrunk and may improve somewhat spontaneously over time. However, the mutation process is slow and may take months to years to complete. Sometime you can massage on the scar may be help. The pump scar with raise scar kind of keloid scar. The treatment with ointment or lotion sometime may not help. You need to do intralesional corticosteroid injection as first line therapy. It can make it flatten out.

I hope that can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further. I Hope you have good health.

Brief Answer:
You can try combination therapies like silicone gel or onion extract gel and intralesional injection corticosteroid.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your clarification. Treatment is based upon the type or characteristics of the scar. Smaller hypertropic scars or keloid scars are candidates for injectables. Especially, your scar is old scar 8to 9 month already. In a fresh scar you can prevent or reduce the risk of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation better than the old scar you can use such as Silicone sheet or gel or onion extract containing gel. You may can try those of treatment for a period of time example 6 months. However, hypertrophic scars have a prolonged maturation phase, meaning that they may improve over a one year period by themselves and can show significant flattening and softening. So you can try the options of treatment by combination like using silicone gel, other topical therapies and massage therapy with intralesional injection.

Hope I have answered your query. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you have good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.
