Brief Answer:
Blood clots do not present with these symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon and thank you for your question.

Burning/stinging pains of the upper thighs are not the typical signs of blood clots and therefore, I would not worry about this particular problem. However, depending upon your body habitus (i.e. whether you are obese or overweight) you may have what is called MERALGIA PARESTHETICA which is classically described as a painful burning or stinging pain in the upper thighs that may or may not be accompanied by numbness and tingling of the inner thighs. Pain can radiate from the inguinal crease on both sides. Pain can be most pronounced at night but can happen at any time of the day.

The pathology that is ascribed to this entity is the entrapment of the FEMORAL NERVE as it exits the pelvic region and travels into the legs on either side. The pinching of this nerve is commonly found in people who are overweight or obese and most easily resolved by weight loss so that the compression of those nerves is relieved. Treatment is therefore, conservative and not surgical in any way. There are medications that can be given to relieve the symptoms but if in fact, if it is femoral nerve entrapment then, the best solution to the problem as opposed to medication to relieve the compression phenomenon by taking weight off the nerve.

If these symptoms are not due to MERALGIA PARESTHETICA then, the next things I would check would be VITAMIN B12, VITAMIN D, and FOLIC ACID levels in the bloodstream. I would also recommend checking THYROID HORMONES such as (TSH and FREE T4) to make sure you are not suffering from a hypothyroid state (Hyperthyroid would be unlikely with these symptoms).

However, blood clots? Once again...not at all likely with these symptoms. Check these other things first.
