I Have An Enlarged Place On Cheek- Based On Great
Question: i have an enlarged place on cheek- based on great recommendation here went to immed clinic and received Doxycycline Hyclate prescription ( i had previous anaphalyxsis reactionti Ceftin and severe allergic reaction to Sulfa),have four more doses of 2x/ day x10 of antibiotic.
last night in sleep rolled on to side and blood and liquid came out- wiped off with alcohol wipe.
Dermatology appt still 3 wks off- anything else i shoukd do?

Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service. I have read your question and here is my advice.
This is a carbuncle, that is an infection of the hair follicles (skin). It's good that it burst itself because it is necessary that the pus should come out for healing. Once the pus is out, most it's the start of healing and then healing takes place.
The management is to use antibiotics and keeping it clean.
As you are already on proper antibiotics, so you just need to continue that, and twice daily wash with saline or clean water. Try to press it if any Pus is there that should squeeze out. It may take a few days to heal and I hope you won't need to see your dermatologist if that's weeks away for this reason at least as it mostly heals in a few days.
