Brief Answer:
Please see the detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank for your query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from stomachache for the last 2 weeks which may be resulted from constipation or lack of regular bowel movements.

You may experience pain which usually develop throughout the abdomen when constipation is underlying cause for your stomachache. Patient with constipation may suffer from bloating, fullness, distension due to excessive gas production and their abdomen become painful.

Plenty of fluids intake along with green leafy vegetables, exercising regularly and consumption of lactulose syrup may help to relieve you from constipation. Regular bowel movement will reduce your gas and subside your stomachache. In case of severe stomach pain, you can also take antispasmodic medication along with domperidon and anti ulcerant medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Only constipated the last 2 days, i believe from the Prilosec and brat diet. Had stomach ache 10 days prior to constipation. Feel like it may be gastritis but not sure. Should i continue to take Prilosec? 40 mg?

Please see the detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for joining again. Yes, you can take Prilosec for 1- 2 months. I have already mentioned to take antiulcerants like Prilosec which contains omeprazole.

According to your prediction, you may suffer from gastritis. Gastritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It may present with stomachache. Gastritis may take 10 days to 4 weeks for fully healing.

You can undergo some investigations like endoscopy of upper GIT, USG of W/A etc to exclude the causes. You can take Prilosec 40 mg instead of 20 mg, if you want to take.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you can take 2 Prilosec in the morning and 2 Pepcid at the evening.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for joining again. Yes, you can take.
Prilosec contains omeprazole which belongs to the group of medications known as protein pump inhibitors (PPI) is used to treat conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid in adults. Similarly, Pepcid contains famotidine which belongs to the group of medications known as histamine-2 (H-2) blockers is used to reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces.

No interactions were found between Pepcid and Prilosec. Recent studies has shown that compared with treatment with omeprazole like Prilosec alone, on day 1 famotidine like Pepcid and omeprazole like Prilosec in combination improved the duration of time to reach intragastric pH > 4. With regard to duration with pH > 4, the combination therapy is superior to famotidine like Pepcid alone on day 8.

A pH of 4 is considered as a threshold, below which gastric contents become injurious to the oesophagus, stomach or other organs. So, taking 2 Prilosec in the morning and 2 Pepcid at the evening will be highly beneficial to maintain intragastric pH and subside your present sufferings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
