I M 44 And Have Anxiety . All The Males

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Apr 2019
Question: i'm 44 and have anxiety. all the males in my family do.
Just recently I started having tightness in my perinium and groin.
but my urine flow is normal as it has been for years.
I went to my GP.
He said he didn't think I needed a rectal exam given my lack of symptoms, my normal urinalysis and my age.
He's our family doctor and all 5 men in my family have had bouts of non specific prostititis off and on.
My GP said he thought it was the same.

No one in my family in all 3 generations(or ever) has had prostate cancer.
All of us do struggle with anxiety.

I made an appointment with a urologist anyway because I will just worry.
Still, I cant get in for a several weeks.

My wife is a paramedic and I finally asked her today to read up on a digital exam of the prostate and just check me out for anything alarming.
She did it and aftermard she said the whole thing felt smooth(no bumps or nodule things anywherel). She also said it felt as it was described (size of a walnut and was firm and symetrical and consistent all the way around.) Only thing she had no relation to scale was firmness as she has never felt one.
We read that it should feel like the muscle under the base of the thumb when making a tightened fist.
She said thats basically what it felt like.

I myself felt no pain or anything, just pressure.

does all that sound normal? and if you have prostititis without infection, how do you make it calm down?

Brief Answer:
You should be investigated

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,I came to know that you are suspecting Prostatitis.
It produces non specific symptoms like Pain in the pelvic area, groin; blood in the urine, cloudy urine , painful ejaculation etc.
Without infection,it occurs in Trauma.
Simple non invasive investigation like Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue.
Non steroidal anti inflammatory tablet will help if there is no evidence of infection.Antibiotic should be added if infection is suspected.
Urine should be sent for Analysis, Culture and Sensitivity tests.
As there is no pain, Prostatitis is a very rare possibility.
Nothing to worry.
Please consult a Urologist, get examined clinically and proceed further.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health
Regards
