Brief Answer:
Do you see them with eyes closed or open?
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.
I have noted your clinical details. Do you see these flashes with eyes open or closed? In most cases, these are due to minor eye problems, related to retina. A detailed retina examination should be done to look for "holes" in retina, which sometimes can occur in people with myopia.
It is unlikely to be due to migraine or other brain-related causes, if there is no headache or other symptoms.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,

Thank you for answering my query.
It happens only when eyes are closed and only when I am falling asleep. They have checked my retinas and no abnormalities were found. It’s like my eye suddenly flutter then stop with no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Then, it is a normal phenomena.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more information.
I am glad to note that your retina was normal. Moreover, these images occur when eyes are closed. This rules out any eye disease too. Sometimes, movement of fluid in eye can form images on retina, which can be perceived by brain (occipital lobes). This is fairly normal and there is no need to worry. This is similar to when you rub or press your eyes, with eyes closed. In this situation too, some people can see flashes of light.
