Brief Answer:
transfer not likely

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned regarding the possibility of transfer of infection. As a mum of two kids myself, I can certainly appreciate the worry but transmission is not likely.

Meningitis , commonly caused by meningococcal bacteria, can be transferred by the sharing of secretions from the throat or respiratory tract. It would be transferred by coughing, sneezing, kissing etc.
There would not be any transfer based on the interaction you described, also the hospital would not have discharged her if she was still capable of infection the general population.

In terms of your previous visit last month, signs or symptoms would have likely be seen by you or your kids, if the bacteria had been transferred at that point.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
