Question: i was rx'ed metronidazole gel at my obgyn when i had a pap , i was recovering from uti month before my PCP rx'ed keflx and microbid. had itchy and burning still so pap test was ordered and i've been using the gel for 4 days. while waiting for culture, the culture was negative for all...what is going to happen now that my flora has been disrupted even more with the gel and me not needing it...yeast infection? will i get a secondary infection because of it?

Since the culture was negative you should be happy.But the doctor prescribed those medicine after pap smear and clinical examination.
I feel you can continue the prescribed medicine for the duration prescribed.For your normal bacterial flora probiotics can be taken.
Avoid washing vagina with soap and use V wash.
For the dose and name of medicine you should contact your family physician.
