If Reflux Is Well Controlled, The Pain Around My Teeth Can Be Disapeared Gradually?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Jul 2024
Question: Due to acid reflux, the acid went into mouth. There are a couple of left side lower teeth become constant pain for 3 months. This pain is different with the pain of tooth cavity, but it is very suffering. It often makes my left side inner ear being very painful (the guess is that the teeth and ear nerves are connected).

My diet is soft and light. Mouth hygiene is overall good.

I can see no cavity or damage of my teeth, and no inflammation of gum.

Changed to sensitivity toothpaste one week ago, and just started using fluoride mouth rinse.

Has seen GI doctor and the acid reflux is almost gone now, but this constant, wield, unbearable left side lower teeth pain is still there.

I now only use right side to chew when eating to avoid further irritating those couple of left side lower teeth that are already in suffering pain.

Question:
1. if reflux is well controlled, the pain around my teeth can be disapeared gradually?
2. should I need to see a dentist to do examinatioin and treatment ? what kind of treatment can release my symptoms?

Brief Answer:
Yes please visit your dentist

Detailed Answer:
Hi
first of all thank you for approaching us with your query.

I read through your query. I must say that even though now acid reflux is controlled if the damage caused by acid to enamel layer of the tooth is irreparable. So I suggest you to meet a dentist and let him/ her see the condition of your tooth and do the treatment accordingly. IF the enamel is too much eroded already you may have to undergo root canal treatment followed by crown. Hope you understood what I meant.
Thank you and have a healthy day.
