Anal sex can be dangerous if you do not take precautions.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Ask a Doctor. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
Anal sex can be dangerous if you do not take precautions. The lining of anus is delicate and unlike vagina there is no lubrication there. Penile insertion into anus can easily tear the lining and bacteria and virus can enter the blood stream. This results in spread of infection including STD if your partner has it. You need to practice safe sex if you are doing anal sex. Your partner needs to use condom and lubricant should be applied over it. Any leakage of semen near vaginal opening can cause pregnancy. You need to be aware of this side effect.
If after anal sex you practice vaginal sex without changing condom, it can cause vaginal and urinary tract infection.
Oral contact with anus can put both partners at risk of developing diseases like HIV, hepatitis, herpes, warts etc.
Anal sex can hurt, as there is no lubrication and anus has rich nerve supply.
If you have further concerns do write to me.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Even if you have been tested and found negative for STD’s you need to use condoms. Tests for Herpes are not done during routine STD testing. Usually men are not tested for HPV.
That is why condom use is advised.
Best wishes.
