Just Finished A Course Of Ampiclox After Compllaining Of Ear
Question: just finished a course of ampiclox after compllaining of ear pain. Hoewever still feeling pressure in the ear, just like when you finished taking a shower and water is in your ear. used my uand to twitch one of the ear and now feels some pain. Both both wars are affected. Diabetic with frequent reflux. Have had noise in the ear for a about 10 years now but this fullness in ear is just about 4 weeks old

A persisting feeling of blockage or fullness in the ears after AOM can be attributed to fluid or pressure changes due to Eustachian Tube Dysfunction still present in the middle ear and sometimes a hyper-mobile ear drum. Twitching the ear canal vigorously can cause transient pain which should settle down.
3. This can be treated with OTC nasal decongestant, short term nasal decongestant drops, mucolytics, anti-allergy medications and steam inhalation for 3 to 5 days.
4. If there is no improvement, get an ear drum examination, a PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram) and an Impedance Audiogram/ Tympanogram done. Upload the result.
5. Further treatment and management options can be discussed after your ear test results.
6. Remember to take your medication for diabetes and reflux. Since your Tinnitus (noise in the ear) is 10 years old, it can be discussed later.
