Left Index Finger Has Swelling, Purple Coloring, Tingling Just Above
This seems to be Achenbach syndrome and is a self-limiting condition that spontaneously resolves in 1-2 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service,
I carefully read your query and also checked the uploaded picture.
The bruise in your index finger seems to be similar to that which happens with Achenbach's syndrome. This is a spontaneous bruising (not related to trauma) that happens mostly in women in their 50ies and affects the third finger or the index finger and spares the fingertip.
Generally, this bruise does not have a serious cause and it resolves within 1-2 weeks without any special treatment.
Very likely you are having Achenbach syndrome, especially if you do not have any bruising in other areas of the body, no bleeding gums, no nose bleeds or other bleeding symptoms.
If you have bleeding in other areas of the body you will need to see your doctor soon.
Otherwise, you may continue with the local cold packs the first day (do not apply ice directly on the skin) and just watch the bruise in the next week or two.
Any new bruises and any worsening should warrant a visit with the doctor.
I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
