Megakaryocytic alterations in thrombocytopenia
Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting me with your health query and after reviewing your health concern I am of the following opinion:
1. As most of the bone marrow aspiration report is normal, thus as far as my clinical acumen is concerned, it could be due to
i. infection ( viral infections) and/or
ii. destruction of platelets by the immune system: ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura)
PS. If other causes of thrombocytopenia are excluded like drugs, infections, malignancy, only then diagnosis of Immune thrombocytopenia leading to isolated thrombocytopenia can be established.
- childhood primary ITP is usually benign, having self limiting course (with or without treatment), thus mine line of management initially will be observation only along with regular monitoring of blood parameters ( Hb, WBC, peripheral smear) and evaluation of organ system (for any lymphadenopathy/organomegaly)
In Ayurveda I usually manage the same on the line of "Tiryaka Raktapitta" [ तिर्यक रक्तपित्त]/ " majjagata vata vyadhi [ मज्जागत वात व्याधि]: If your attending Physician is of the opinion that there is nothing to worry, I can courier you the medicine (for his age) along with dietary Management
