Question: my 4 son, had started very mild cough today. now at night he started coughing with barking sound and started shivering a lot. I checked temp and it around 100. what should I do? I gave paracetamol and deflazacort (suggested for night croop by his doctor. as he had croop earlier at 3 yrs also). shivering and croop both have stopped. what could be the reason? any tests I need to get done in the morning?

Brief Answer:
No need deflazocort.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I do think he may have croup even though croup can be repeated . You can give him acetaminophen or ibuprofen for temp
I don't recommend you to give deflazocort.
Keep him under observations. I don't believe that the croup is present.
You can give ketotifen to him to cope with cough.
I think this should be a simple bacterial infection and no testts are
Hope I have answered the question.

Hello again. You can give him 1mg of tablet or 5 ml of syrup twice daily in mornings and evenings. He will get much better by it and can wait until doctor.
