The only prevention in such case is to avoid precipitating drugs like vitamin k, sulpha group drugs, primaquine etc.
Fava beans also needs to be avoided.
As he is G6PD case I suggest you check his hemoglobin level. Usually hemolysis is self limiting in mild to moderate case. Provide his CBC report once done.
