Hello!

Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that the situation you describe is suggestive of orthostatic hypotension.

For this reason, the first thing to do is to gradually reduce the dose of his antihypertensive drugs (for example taking half of the dose for a couple of days and then a quarter) until stopping if necessary.

A close monitoring of his situation is necessary in order to avoid possible spikes in blood pressure values.

In the meantime it is important staying at bed rest.

If his situation doesn't improve, I would recommend increasing daily salt and fluids intake.

Some tests may be needed:

- complete blood count for anemia
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
