Brief Answer:
Canker sores likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service.
I have gone through your query and viewed the image.

He seems to have Canker sores or Aphthous ulcer.

They are not contagious. If he gets them every few days then I suggest him to take a B complex multivitamin supplement for a few days. In addition, he may use an antiseptic mouthwash regularly as well as put topical triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% formulation in Orabase on these ulcers if and when they appear.

Hope I have answered your query.
