Question: my husband is having throat infection and blood comes in first sputum. i am attaching his reports. please tell me what does it mean.
Brief Answer:
No reports found, please attach the reports again.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on 'Ask A Doctor' forum.
I can understand your concern.
Blood in sputum is known as Hemoptysis
Most common cause of hemoptysis is bronchitis.
Other common causes of hemoptysis are tuberculosis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, tumour etc.
So I'd recommend the following investigations:
1. Chest X-ray
2. Sputum microscopy examination
3. CT thorax (if required)
4. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Please send me the reports if already done.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing your husband a good health.
Thanks.
