My Sister Met Accident. She Is Unconscious For Last 84

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
got new reports
There is evidence of severe brain injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have noted your sister's clinical details and have seen the MRI reports. Reports show severe brain injury, more on the right side of brain. Spinal cord is normal.
As of now, only supportive treatment is needed- mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen supply, keeping BP normal, prevention of seizures and medicines to lower the brain swelling.
If bleeding size increases, surgery may be needed.
Condition is critical and prognosis remains guarded at this stage.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you. I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Regards,
Dr Sudhir Kumar

New report shows similar findings as the previous one
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The new brain scan shows similar findings and patient needs prolonged supportive care- mechanical ventilation, tube feeding, physiotherapy and nursing care. Patient is likely to remain in ICU for at least another week or so. Since the size of bleeding and brain swelling have not increased, brain surgery is most likely not needed at this stage.

Difficult to predict the exact timelines
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
1. As per the doctor's report (dated 3rd October), patient needs long duration ventilation, and for that they have done tracheostomy (making a hole in the neck); though which oxygen can be given by ventilator for a longer time. In the initial days, ventilator is connected via a pipe in the mouth.
2. The exact timeline for regaining consciousness can not be predicted; however, it would take at least a week or longer (looking at the severity of brain injury).
