Brief Answer:
Seems that a blood vessel, like a vein, is very close to nose

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Usually this means that a blood vessel, like a vein, is very close to the surface in your son's nose. So , because the vessel is so superficial, it's easy for it to bleed. Then a scab is formed, and it is again easy for the scab to get dislodged and bleed again. So it is not uncommon to have several bloody noses in a short period of time. Especially with a cold or during allergy season when we're all itchy! A ENT doctor can cauterize or "seal" the area where the vein is close the the surface and this can help. It is done in the office with some anesthesia sprayed into the nose. I don't see the lab results, but I'm happy to review them. But, if you have been told the results are normal, then I would see ENT.

Dr Lisa

Brief Answer:
Got it

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I got it this time. Labs are fine, did they also do a platelet count? And I also see the pictures - I'm not sure I'd call that petechiae. Looks more like keratosis pillaris and typical sun changes to me. Especially if only on the outside upper arms. Has he had any other bleeding problems? From circumcision? From scrapes or cuts?
