My Son Started Bleeding From His Penis Fairly Heavily. He
Question: my son started bleeding from his penis fairly heavily. he is having some discomfort in the genital area. the bleeding has stopped now. he is a 38 year old special needs man. what could cause this and should I take him to the ER?

He will likely need to see a urologist, who may want to look at his bladder with a scope. It may also be from stones or an infection, so the cause does need to be investigated.
This isn't necessarily an emergency, so I would say he doesn't need to go to the ER unless he begins to have problems with urinating, which may indicate that a blood clot or something else is blocking the urine. This would cause discomfort, which can become severe, and so for this he would need to go to the ER.
