Brief Answer:
She needs to rest the foot.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns ,
I have seen the attached X-ray. Your wife has a fracture of fifth metatarsal- Jone's fracture. It is best to avoid all the painful movements and use a compression bandage to decrease any swelling in the area. She can also wear an elastic brace in the area for a support. Keep a pillow under her foot while resting and take a mild pain killer like Aleve after meals which is available over the counter. She can get the cast done after 5-6 days when she returns to XXXXXXX She can also ice the area to reduce pain and swelling and keep the foot elevated and avoid walking on the foot as much as possible.

I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry .

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
thanks for writing again.

Walking will only increase pain and swelling, nothing other will worse.
If she is having bearable pain then she can walk as minimum as required.
There is no chance of DVT, bluish coloration of skin on and around the ankle is ecchymosis (a discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath, typically caused by trauma ), this is not related to DVT.

Regards
