Question: need clarification on a slightly low anion gap value of 9. normal scale 10-18. all other labs normal. i am female, age 67

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Low anion gap is usually seen in respiratory diseases, liver cirrhosis and long standing infection.
However it can be seen a laboratory error also.
In your case you don’t have any other symptoms and all other parameters are normal, so there is no role for any active intervention.
You can simply repeat the test after two weeks.
If the low anion gap persist, other investigations like ultrasound and chest X-ray.
