Brief Answer:
Xanax should be withheld
Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am
I can certainly understand your concern.
I have worked through your attached query in detail.
Xanax contains Alprazolam(a short acting Benzodiazepine) which should not be taken when there is intake of alcohol as it leads to summated toxicity by enhancing the inhibitory effect of alcohol on brain.
I thus advise you to consider another longer acting Benzodiazepine like Lorazepam if you develop symptoms of alcohol withdrawal in 72 hours after stopping alcohol intake.
