Question: on December 27 I woke with severe very low cramping in my stomach pelvis area like a band straight across. when i had 3 bowel movements i felt better. i did have cramping throughout the day but not as bad. my stomach was just unsettled for a few days and my first thought was i had recently got back on birth control and have been having breakthrough bleeding since Dec 10 and my obgyn had said the bleeding could last 12 weeks and the cramping could have been actual period cramps since this was my normal time....right after new years for about 3 days when I would go to urinate i would pass mucous globs about size of a nickel...some clear other times brown or yellowish ... that cleared up and the period finally stopped. but now since this morning i had a normal bowel movement when i woke up and everytime i go to urinate and put that little pressure i have globs of mucous again....this time looks pink or red tinged or just yellow clear. all colors at different times today. no fever, no vomit, no bowel movement since this morning. slight burning at anus but could be from wiping no other symptoms other than a slight feeling i need to pass a stool. should i be concerned like go to emergency room or what might be going on here? no previous bowel or digestive issues in past but last couple weeks something is off

Brief Answer:
There can be several causes which should get evaluated..

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be several causes for mucous plugs in the urine which should get evaluated.

Kindly follow up with a bit more information,
Do you have urgency/frequency for urination, vaginal discharge?

For further assessment I would suggest you to consult with Urologist for detailed clinical examination.

He may procure complete hemogram, urine culture sensitivity, ultrasound or computed tomography abdomen and pelvis as per evaluation to rule out any other possibilities for urinary tract infection /bladder stone.

Till then keep your self hydrated. Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

Hope I have answered your query...
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

There can be several causes for blood-tinged stool with mucus plugs. Still, an intestinal infection may be the common cause.

For further assessment, I would suggest you consult with a Gastroenterologist for a detailed clinical examination.

He may procure complete hemogram, stool analysis, Colonoscopy as per evaluation to rule out any other possibilities for hemorrhoids/any intestinal lesion.

For burning sensation over the anus, you can apply lignocaine Jelly locally. Keep your self hydrated. Do regular blood pressure monitoring.

Hope I have answered your query...
