Question: re this: https://www.embopress.org/doi/full/10.15252/emmm.0000
and this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC0000/

question: would increasing nitric oxide (via l-arginine supplementation) reduce, increase, or have no effect on the sulfide stress caused by overproduction of h2s? rationale: if NO binds with CBS and blocks the enzymatic activity of h2s (via the CBS route) then wouldn't that reduce sulfide stress and reduce the (theorized) schizophrenic disease process, while still allowing a necessary amount of h2s to be active via 3mst/mpst?

Brief Answer:
Given hypothesis holds good in reduction of disease activity

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your attached query and articles in detail.

The mentioned hypothesis of NO-CBS-H2S is definitely scientific and would certainly lead to reduction in oxidative stress and can slow down or halt the schizophrenic disease process.

I totally support the hypothesis as shown by you.

But in addition to this pathway there are several other pathways contributing to the disease activity.

Many of these pathways are still unidentified which requires further research.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.

you say "would certainly lead to reduction in *oxidative stress*", but my understanding of the first linked study is that H2S *combats* oxidative stress, but with the process described, there is *too much* H2S which causes *sulfide stress*, not *oxidative stress*. Can you clarify your understanding of these interactions between NO, CBS and H2S so i can have more confidence in your answer? sorry, but you could be anyone for all i know. :) my concern is that NO will make things worse, instead of better, and i would like a doctor to confirm the truth, either way. Will NO increase sulfide stress by some mechanism i don't understand , or reduce it via the process i described? thanks

Brief Answer:
Oxidative stress reduction is more important

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

I can certainly understand your concern.

NO is the main molecule helpful in reducing both sulphide stress and Oxidative stress.

These are complex mechanisms which are often difficult to understand to complex interplay.

Ultimately it's important to eliminate the oxidative stress rather than sulphide stress to manage the Schizophrenia.
