Brief Answer:
Can be a neck muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.
A pain in neck and shoulder can happen due to a muscle spasm due to abnormal neck position or working on computer for long hours. This can also be related to a frozen shoulder or spondylottic changes in the cervical spine.
You need to get an MRI scan of the neck done to find out the exact cause. Till then a hot compress and taking oral muscle relaxants can help. You can also apply a muscle relaxant gel like Volini after a hot compress. Do avoid using a pillow and working on computers till the pain subsides.
Hope this answer is helpful.
Any further follow up queries are welcome.
Regards.
