Same Question
Question: Brief Answer:
sterile dressing, suppo. medicines, wound examination by doctor is needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.
* As per my surgical experience, there is soft tissue damage to the limb part
injured as quarter inch hole is there as per the description.
Guidelines for best recovery
- Immediate thorough cleaning of the wound with distilled water followed by
antiseptic solution if available.
- Sterile dressing with polymycin cream or else consult your GP for the same
- Wound examination is required to look into residual foreign body (wood) remaining
and removal of the same if anything left ( will need your doc for this ).
- Analgesic as ibuprofen or paracetamol for primary pain relief.
- Need of antibiotics for better healing and prevention of infection as per
the clinical condition of the wound.
- Suturing may or may not be required depending upon the depth of wound,
associated soft tissue damage and other considerations.
However, if you can provide a photo pic of the current condition of the area, it would be much helpful to proceed in a sound manner during follow up.
Wish him best recovery.
Regards.
