Hi Deepshikha,
Thanks for the query.
Are you able to bear weight on that limb and walk?
Is there a lot of swelling around the ankle?
Usually ankle sprains are very painful and are best resolved with elevating the limb and applying ice 4-5 times a day to reduce the swelling and pain.
If there is a fracture, usually weight bearing may be very painful or impossible.
Limb elevation and non-weight bearing with ice application for a week will reduce the swelling and then you'll be able to assess better if you can stand on it or not. If you are unable to stand on it and walk then it could be fractured and it will need am xray as well.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thanks for the follow up. please find my response below inline
Are you able to bear weight on that limb and walk? - It's my hand ankle/wrist. It pains very rarely and when it is there - it is very painful. for eg. like pressing at a particular point, twisting my hand too much to take bath or doing household chores, lifting very heavy weight. It happens especially when I woke up in the morning. if I keep moving my wrist for 5-10 min, it becomes better and bearable for the whole day
Is there a lot of swelling around the ankle? - No swelling at all
In above cases, only ice application can work or do I need to do anything else like spray, exercise etc?
Thanks
Deepshikha

Hi Deepshikha,
Thank you for your response. If it is very painful you can get a wrist splint from the pharmacy and wear the wrist splint during the day and remove the wrist splint during the night.
Applying ice will definitely help if there is swelling and pain.
If you are able to do your daily activities and lift light objects it's fine.
you can take paracetamol or ibuprofen tablets for pain relief if required.
