Started Having Complete Bladder And Bowel Incontinence Starting About 6
Question: started having complete bladder and bowel incontinence starting about 6 weeks ago and literally started overnight. I also had worsening back pain that radiated down my right leg. I have no sensation of needing to go and often don't realize that I have gone until I change (been wearing diapers 24/7 since this started). I have tried everything from limiting intake to sitting on the toilet every 30 minutes but no help. Cauda equina and a UTI have been ruled out. I had MRI but all it should was disc disease and some vertebrae fusion. I do have behcets, ulcerative colitis, interstitial cystitis, and gastroparesis. Any thoughts on the cause and what may help

can sciatica cause incontinence? while the pain is bad and bothersome, it is the incontinence that is more of a concern.
Brief Answer:
Follow up explained below in details.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,
In some cases the herniated disk that cause sciatica pain can compress nerves that control the bowel.
This can result in causing urinary incontinence and loss of bowel control.
It should be evaluated by the neurologist to decide the proper treatment.
Surgery should be taken into consideration if the symptoms continue.
Hope it helps dear.
